St Paul’s Church, Daybrook recently embarked on a replacement of their old non-stacking, all-wood chairs in their lovely Grade II* listed building.
Alpha were asked to bring several samples, which were delivered in person. Our Jacob chair with padded seat was duly decided upon after a few months testing, as the way forward.
This chair offered the comfort of a padded seat, yet the wood look of an un-padded back. This combination also satisfied the DAC and Chancellor who gave approval, and the chair also proved practical for the church’s more varied and flexible use. It is lightweight and stacks to 12 high on a dolley. The dolleys also stack together when empty.
The wooden frame and back are stained in the customer’s choice of finish. In this instance the church selected “Light Teak” to help lighten the space as the existing chairs were very dark. The lighter wood finish also contrasts nicely with the remaining original wooden features in the church.
A dozen of the chairs were ordered with arms, and these also stack. Folk who require these are now enjoying the full-length nature of the arms.
Alpha put St Paul’s in contact with a furniture restorer who duly gave them a good offer for their old chairs. The old chairs were collected in the same week as the new chairs arrived.
Cushions for the existing wooden framed altar kneelers were also provided to match the chairs. This is just one of many bespoke options Alpha can offer.
Our LAMSH chair continues its popularity, along with other ‘hybrid’ (wooden back/padded seat) stacking chairs in Alpha’s extensive church chair range.
