At Alpha Furniture we want all of our customers to avoid common regrets when buying new chairs. The most heart-breaking phone calls we receive are from folk who bought chairs as little as 10 years ago and are starting again. They are seldom previous customers of ours, but we do sympathise when really a chair investment should last 25+ years.
So – running from 5th to 1st, here’s the top 5 reasons for regret that we have encountered:
5 – Arms not available.
Sometimes folk will buy 100 chairs for their hall or church and have not thought about having some with arms for folk who need help to stand. Some have bought chairs that didn’t even have an arm option, so any subsequent armchair orders need to be for a ‘complimentary’ style & colour.
4 – Not comfortable enough
At Alpha we pride ourselves on our free chair sample trial service. It is important to make sure the chairs purchased are going to be comfortable for the intended uses. A one month trial is therefor offered, allowing some decision makers to sit for a whole event or service in that time.
3 – Chairs are falling apart
Our customers want many years out of their chairs, so we buy with quality as the first concern. It can be uneconomical to buy the cheapest chairs available on the market.
2 – The chairs don’t stack/stack well enough
At Alpha we always encourage folk to think long-term about their space. This hopefully prevents a decision that only caters for current or short-term ideas and plans. It is great to see our customers using their buildings better than ever. However, this does drive stack-ability up the agenda and should do if one is to try and ‘future-proof’ the seating for any venue. The more space one can clear, the bigger the variety of events that become possible. High-density stacking chairs are among our best-sellers as a result.
1 – The chairs are too heavy
Weight is the most common reason for regret among new enquiries looking to start again on their chair research journey. All too often folk buying chairs for the first time, regard ‘do stack’ as sufficiently flexible. At Alpha we always make sure folk are considering long term hopes and plans for the building use, frequency of moving, the age of those moving them, and ultimately, the weight of the chairs being considered.
