The Grade II listed Church of Ashbourne Methodist sits in the heart of the Peak district.
The church embarked on an extension project over 8 years ago and requested sample chairs from Alpha Furniture. With Covid and extended plans, the project became a longer term one.
The church’s recent order for lightweight wooden and lightweight metal chairs from Alpha broke the timescale record for a site visit to an order (8 years!).
Alpha kept in touch however, and Methodist Conservation meanwhile created a list of chairs which they deemed appropriate for listed buildings.
Alpha’s popular Jacob chair, including with padded seat, fell into the accepted list swiftly and following a second round of testing in Ashbourne, became the favoured chair for the exciting project, named ‘The Link’.
The chairs from two other firms failed to impress to the same degree. Alpha sent a competitive quotation and was able to provide advice on fabrics, linking, arms, dolleys and other options.
Alpha are proud to be part of a new chapter in this significant community space and are sure it will serve Ashbourne superbly for years to come. Comfort and ease of stacking will of course feature in this on-going use of the space !
Supplying church chairs that are appropriate in looks for listed buildings yet affordable, comfortable and robust and yet light weight, easily stacked and yet featuring the right options, is a challenge Alpha relish. Do view our large range of excellent stacking church chairs.
